Greetings!
What a great start to a new school year! We have lots of amazing opportunities in schools across the state, thanks to your vision and creativity!
The Partnerships for Innovation in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Education hosted the STEM Visioning Forum in LaVista this September. The results of the conversation can be found on the website. The two pathways include Engineering and Energy.
If you are interested in participating in the Standards Writing Workshop for any of these cluster areas, please consider completing the application. Those selected will have lodging, mileage, breakfast and lunch provided in addition to a $250/day stipend. The dates are confirmed, locations are yet to be determined.
PFI has also extended the contract with EMSI for the 2012 calendar year which provides projected economic and workforce statistics used by community colleges and high schools to build programs which align with local business/industry needs. PFI will generate reports for secondary partners this fall when all the US Census data has been synthesized.
Thank you for your continued support of the Partnerships for Innovation. As you see a need in your community, please do not hesitate to contact me about how we can address it.
Sincerely,
402-305-9480

Summary of the NEET Symposium |
Twenty-four participants representing both high school and community colleges from across the state attended the first annual Nebraska Entrepreneurship Education Training (NEET) Symposium.
The professional development included online instruction and a three day workshop at Southeast Community College in Lincoln. The online instruction involved the basic elements of entrepreneurship, exploring entrepreneurship, and a YouTube video assignment. Participants created a curriculum portfolio outlining how to incorporate entrepreneurship into the classroom as a capstone assignment.
The three days of interactive training explored how to incorporate lessons learned from the online training, creative thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship concepts into the classroom without having to create new curriculum. The NET Force planning committee structured the symposium to introduce creative and innovative concepts. These were some of the topic areas covered during the workshop:
- Creativity and Innovation in the Classroom
- Planting the Entrepreneurial Seed
- Problem-Based Case Learning
- Tour of Local Business Enterprise Center
- Fostering the Intraprenurial Spirit of Students
- Networking and Curriculum Coaching
Former Congressman Dr. Tom Osborne addressed the group regarding the origination of NET Force and why he has championed small business education in the state as a way to grow youth into the future leaders of the state's economy. |
